Yes. The fear of unsafeWindow is pointless and stupid (in my eyes). I have yet to see a website do damage through it. If you really wanted to, check out unsafeWindow.CommentChange.toString() to see what it's doing and replicate it from a "safe" scope.

Here's a script which does this:

The Toronto Star newspaper site insists on displaying article comments starting with the newest comment. There is a dropdown allowing me to change the display order, but the site doesn't keep track of my choice - I need to switch the darn display order every time I read a new article.

I have written a script which successfully changes the display to "oldest first", but it uses one of the Star's data-load functions via unsafeWindow. The script works, but I feel dirty. B^) Can you help me successfully use an unsafeWindow alternative?
__________

The site's dropdown is coded like this:

<select onchange="CommentChange(this, event);" id="ctl00_UserCommentsLayer_SortOrder" name="ctl00$UserCommentsLayer$SortOrder">

so when a user changes the display order, CommentChange() is called. Here's my script, minus the header:

var DEFAULT_SORT_ORDER = 1; // Oldest first

(function() {

document.getElementById("ctl00_UserCommentsLayer_SortOrder").selectedIndex=DEFAULT_SORT_ORDER;
unsafeWindow.CommentChange(document.getElementById("ctl00_UserCommentsLayer_SortOrder"),DEFAULT_SORT_ORDER);

})()

It works fine: when a Toronto Star page is loaded, the dropdown will be changed to "Oldest first" and the comments area reloaded. But how can I recode the CommentChange calll to get rid of unsafeWindow? (Or am I worrying needlessly?)

Thanks!

Well that's no problem, you'd just refresh the page to download the file after streaming. It's a minimal bother. At least on mediafire.

It actually already works using lifehacker's "google inline mp3 player" script, but only sometimes depending on how fast the link is prepared by mediafire. If it's prepared before the script processes the page it works like a charm. So if someone would only implement some kind of script execution delay it would work every time.

    <body-html>

</body-html>

Another request would be Netflix genre keywords on IMDb.
Increasing IMDb's top movies would be nice, too.

<s>You are using for...each incorrectly, for..each iterates over all an objects properties. Therefore it will iterate over document.images.length and other properties of document.images</s>
